About 90Km South of Alice Springs lies the barely there village of Stuart’s Well.  Driving past we noticed a Camel Farm, which made us as a family reasonable excited.  We then noticed a sign that stated ‘Free Entry’; well that made us extremely excited!!  Free anything gives us tingles all over!  We strolled on into the Camel Farm oohing and ahhing over all the magnificent camels and spent a lot of time just feeding some through the fence, simply in awe of their comical chewing style.  They all have their own personalities that’s for sure!

Burt saddled and ready to roll!

After dragging ourselves away from the camel area, we continued our journey through the farm and enjoyed seeing the birds, kangaroos, dingoes, emus and llamas.

This Emu looks friendly but we're pretty sure he would peck your eyeballs out given the opportunity!

The llamas in particular took our children’s fancy as they were just as enjoyable to watch chewing as the camels and it was there that we struck up a conversation with a lovely traveling South Australian couple that had just ridden camels around the enclosure.  We let them know that we’re cheapskates and they let us know that rides were just $7 a piece….it was a match made in heaven!!

Well we promptly bought tickets and excitedly lined up to ride Burt the camel!  So exhilarating to ride camels for the first time ever, kind of like riding a horse but a bit more boss-like! An amazing experience for us as a family and something our children will remember forever.

We all loved Burt and our whole experience at the Camel Farm.
